This is coming a little late, but there is a lot of hype for this game which seems undeserved.

While the graphics are the best out there crysis does need a demanding system to run, for most casual gamers crysis will eat up your system and spit it back out, when you lower the graphics its just like any other game. however when at high detail this game is amazing, the textures and effects are top notch and its almost photo realistic in some situations. Sound is good too, with bullets whizzing and tanks roaring. At some parts in the game you hear faint helicopter blades whirling, and you immediatly seek out the nearest tree canopy for cover. Sound has never had this much of an effect on me. Sadly now I have to come to gameplay, take away crysis graphics and you are left with just another average shooter, enemies aren't that bright and the game feels very repetitive. Whats worse all the nanosuit powers seem like a gimmic, most of them other than advanced armor is worthless because the suit runs on some cheap chinese battery. By this I mean your powers last a couple of seconds and thats about it. Another bad part about this game is the story, Crysis at first seemed like an average military shooter then all of a sudden they throw in aliens for no reason. The sci fi story seems tacked on, and is revealed in the first level, taking any surprise out, making the story a borefest. As for replay the game does come with a sandbox editor, but creating box towers is only fun for so long. The multiplayer seems like another tacked on bit. It is to be noted that physics in singleplayer has been removed from multiplayer, thus no blowing your way through houses or knocking down trees, showing the game's average gameplay. Power Struggle is teambased, but does not give you the tools to work as a team, no squads such bf2, no team based vechicles. Deathmatch is fun for a while but it gets boring after you played with every weapon and gotten a few kills. I'm sure once mods come for the game, the replay value will increase, but now its not very good. There is an old saying dont judge a book by its cover, well that applies to Crysis. Crysis is a book with a pristine cover, but blank pages.

    Shut up and die.

Kinda sounds like Perfect Dark in some respects (started out as a normal shooter and then a sci-fi plot of aliens was thrown in, taking away from the game in my opinion). I've always been intrigued by trying this game. Does your mediocre rating mean that you would not recommend this game to FPSers?

Personally I would not recommend this game at all, while the graphics are excellent, the gameplay is very bland and the guns arent creative like PD at all. While throwing people through houses with Super Strength is fun for the first 10 min the game gets quickly repetitive. Also the aliens aren't suddenly put in but appear through cinematics from the beginning of the game. While the actual alien levels and fighting them doesn't come toward the end. Thus ruining the surprise while taking away the military style gameplay.

With better shooters like COD4, TF2, Battlefield, Halo etc. this game isn't worth it.
